EVI Ski: Circular ski manufacturing, Made in Norway
- Published 28 October 2025; updated 25 March 2026; estimated reading time 3 minutes. Oppdal-based EVI Ski describes itself as Norway’s only alpine steel-edged ski manufacturer and the world’s first circular ski factory. EVI and Prog skis are made to order without pre-produced inventory; the page says worn skis are designed to be remoulded. Prog skis are individually customised using skier data, while EVI develops evolving models. CEO Endre Hals says the company sources materials from other industries and works with industrial waste generators.
- The company says its local production and testing location help limit overproduction and transport emissions. EVI has the Made in Norway certification and uses it to distinguish Norwegian-manufactured products from brands that may be Norwegian in origin but manufacture abroad. Hals says the label verifies that EVI products are made in Norway.
- EVI sells internationally but prioritises its home market to support circular returns; shipping used skis between Norway and distant markets such as Japan or the US for remoulding is described as resource-intensive. The company reports rising interest from Europe over the previous year, attributing some context to a weaker Norwegian krone.
- The label appears on ski graphics, with planned use on packaging and email signatures. Hals says EVI has collaborated with other Made in Norway companies and reports positive results.
