Kuraas and Lofotlam: Tender and flavourful lamb, Made in Norway
- Published 28 January 2026; updated 25 March 2026; estimated reading time 2 minutes. Kuraas is a Narvik meat producer with nearly a century of history. Its new Lofotlam brand aims to compete internationally; the article attributes lamb tenderness and flavour to breeding and natural Norwegian grazing conditions. The brand has Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) certification and the Made in Norway origin label.
- Marketing Manager Kenneth Kuraas says the Norwegian origin mark is especially useful abroad, where Lofotlam is unfamiliar, to convey trust, quality and responsibility. The company says it is new to exports and, with Innovation Norway’s Milan office, secured a distributor preparing to launch the product in Italy. The article describes export as an ambition/launch plan at publication, not a confirmed outcome.
- Kuraas plans to display PGI and Made in Norway marks on product labels, company and distributor websites, catalogues, trade-fair material and industry workshops.
