NorLense brings Norwegian oil spill and shelter solutions to the world
- Published 19 August 2026; updated 7 October 2026; estimated reading time 3 minutes. NorLense, founded in 1975 and based in Fiskebøl in northern Norway, makes oil-spill response equipment and high-pressure inflatable tents for oil companies, defence, search and rescue, and humanitarian organizations. Its history includes delivering 10 km of containment booms after the 1977 Ekofisk Bravo blowout, a single-point-inflation ring boom in 1990 and the Oil Trawl three-in-one collection/separation/storage system introduced in 2015. In the early 2000s it adapted its inflation technology for rapidly deployable shelters with Norway’s Civil Defence and Armed Forces.
- Made in Norway-certified products listed include NO-T-600-S and NO-T-1000-S Oil Trawls; NO-800-R through NO-1370-R offshore containment booms meeting NOFO standards; and SWIFT high-pressure tents. The company says its tents can remain inflated for months without additional air and withstand severe wind, snow, heat, cold and temperature changes. Development, testing and production are said to take place in Fiskebøl.
- CEO Veslemøy Ellinggard says the label helps answer buyer questions about traceability, quality and reliability. The article notes international competition and higher Norwegian manufacturing costs; NorLense says it differentiates through product lifespan, performance and reduced operational risk. It uses the label on products, technical documents, website, brochures and customer presentations.
