TEMPIA AS is listed at Ørnvikveien 6, 8300 Svolvær, Norway; website: https://tempia.no/en/. Listed industries: Aquaculture and fisheries; Maritime.
The Products panel links to “Tempia provides eco-friendly cooling system for smaller fishing boats” (https://businessnorway.com/solutions/tempia-provides-eco-friendly-cooling-system-for-smaller-fishing-boats), published 22 Mar 2023 and updated 24 Sep 2026. Its CO₂PRO refrigerated seawater (RSW) plant is designed for fishing vessels as small as 10 metres. Conventional ice or slurry ice can shorten trips to preserve catch temperature; traditional RSW systems solve that problem but often use Freon or ammonia, which the page describes as environmentally harmful, toxic or flammable, and difficult to fit and maintain on smaller vessels.
Tempia’s system uses CO₂, described as non-toxic in moderate amounts, non-flammable and effective. It combines an onboard seawater-cooled gas cooler, controls, automatic compressor, receiver, valves and filter with a refrigerant-evaporator injection system intended to keep seawater near 1°C above freezing without ice forming in the evaporator. Operators use a touchscreen, with optional internet-based remote control. The company says the system can help boats stay at sea longer, save time and fuel, and avoid dedicated technical staffing. Components can pass through a 600 × 600 mm hatch, allowing vessel-specific installation without major structural, electrical or piping reconstruction; the compact plant can fit in the forepeak.
The page cites a global population of more than 2.5 million motorised fishing boats under 12 metres, says the RSW plant had been installed on six Norwegian boats, and records four additional systems confirmed for Norwegian delivery in 2020. It says Tempia was seeking international customers. Listed SDGs: Zero hunger; Responsible consumption and production; Industry, innovation and infrastructure.
