The Products panel links to “KitoFlokk™ eco-friendly biopolymer enables sustainable water treatment” (https://businessnorway.com/solutions/teta-vannrensing-kitoflokk-eco-friendly-biopolymer-enables-sustainable-water-treatment), published 2 Dec 2022 and updated 23 Mar 2026. KitoFlokk is an available, biodegradable coagulant/flocculant for drinking water and wastewater, made from non-toxic organic biopolymers. The product binds organic and inorganic particles—including heavy metals, suspended solids, PAHs and PCBs—for removal. It is sold in liquid and dry forms, works across water-treatment systems and pH conditions, contains no acrylamide and is described as safe for marine life.
The company says KitoFlokk can cut use of inorganic metal coagulants by 70–100%, improve treatment efficiency and reduce operating cost and energy use. Its lower toxicity simplifies handling; it produces less sludge, lowering transport costs, and the sludge can be reused for fertiliser, animal feed or protein recovery. The page states that the product has been used in Norwegian drinking-water treatment for 20 years and identifies public- and private-sector water utilities, especially in Europe, as target customers. Other possible uses include industrial water and runoff from roads, tunnels and construction sites; application in land-based aquaculture was being tested. A USD 211.3 billion market estimate is a historical forecast for 2025. Listed SDGs: Clean water and sanitation; Responsible consumption and production.
