  • Tenth Norwegian–Brazilian conference, held 6–8 November 2023 at Windsor Florida Hotel in Rio de Janeiro. Its cross-cutting theme was the energy transition, including sustainable development, reliable low-carbon energy, and the industrial shift away from fossil fuels. The format combined plenary and parallel sessions, research-funding information, and matchmaking.
  • Goals included networking among Norwegian and Brazilian research, academic, and business organisations; presenting projects; identifying research/innovation collaborations; explaining funding schemes from Brazil, Norway, and the EU; increasing researcher and student mobility; and marking the conference’s 10th anniversary. The target audience included researchers, universities, companies, funders, government, and other energy-transition institutions. The page expected 150 participants and referred to a planned FINEP–Research Council of Norway energy call.
  • Connected events: 9 Nov, UFRJ/COPPE engineering laboratory visit in Rio; 9–10 Nov, biodiversity and tropical-forest seminar in Belém marking 10 years of the Brazil–Norway Biodiversity Research Consortium; and 9–10 Nov, renewable-energy seminar and solar-plant visit in Natal, organised by Innovation Norway and Rio Grande do Norte research institutions. The page provides programme and practical-information PDF attachments.
  • Partners listed: Equinor, Hydro, Innovation Norway, and Norway’s Ministry of Petroleum and Energy. Contact: Torkjell Leira (torkjell.leira@innovationnorway.no). Related industries: offshore wind, battery, hydrogen, and energy.
