4Subsea provides decision support for offshore wind

From the public capture. Detailed factual notes from Business Norway. Statements and figures reflect the source at the time of capture.

  • Published 29 June 2022 and updated 30 September 2026. 4Subsea’s SMS Guard sensors monitor floating and fixed-bottom wind-turbine structures, towers and seabed support. Retrofittable units can be used in existing and new projects. The company’s 4insight Offshore Wind software combines sensor readings with weather and other inputs to give live integrity monitoring of structural loads and movement; data is available through an open API.
  • The page describes offshore corrosion, harsh conditions and movement, load or temperature extremes as sources of failure risk. Maintenance is costly because equipment may fail before or last beyond its planned replacement date. Sensor data and digital twins can help operators detect anomalies, predict problems, plan repairs or replacement, reduce downtime and production losses, extend asset life, lower costs and inform future turbine designs.
  • The page cites a historical market estimate of offshore wind growing from USD 27 billion in 2017 to USD 55 billion by 2022, and says digitalisation is expected to grow as operators catch up with other energy sectors. It notes 4Subsea previously delivered digital-twin decision support in oil and gas. The solution is linked to UN Sustainable Development Goal 7, affordable and clean energy.
  • Public contact: Ina Ellingsen, Digital Marketing Manager, ina.ellingsen@4subsea.com. Company: 4SUBSEA AS, Hagaløkkveien 26, 1383 Asker, Norway; 4subsea.com. Phone control is present but the number is hidden until expanded.
