7Sense irrigation sensors reduce water loss on farms

From the public capture. Detailed factual notes from Business Norway. Statements and figures reflect the source at the time of capture.

  • Published 2 March 2023 and updated 28 September 2026. 7Sense’s wireless irrigation sensor retrofits to many existing farm systems and uses non-intrusive flow detection to identify water loss and alert farmers. Satellite positioning tracks sprinkler-cart location, speed and estimated completion time; information and configurable alerts go to a mobile device.
  • The page says irrigation is labour-intensive and component failures can waste water and damage fields and crops. Agriculture uses about 70% of freshwater worldwide. 7Sense presents its system as a way to reduce water loss, avoid crop flooding, cut overnight manual checks and free farm workers for other tasks. It can modernise existing equipment rather than require replacement and is operated with a single button.
  • The company says the market is global and claims no other system then on the market could detect flow non-intrusively. Founded in 2012 as a spin-off, 7Sense also makes monitoring and sensor products for food storage, construction and offices. The page links the solution to UN goals 2, 6 and 12.
