  • Published 24 April 2026. Aker Solutions presents two offshore-engineered aquaculture systems built for rough ocean conditions and industrial production. The semisubmersible Ocean Cage has a double net barrier, remote monitoring and control, and a scalable structure for heavy seas. The Closed Cage uses controlled deepwater intakes, stable temperature, managed water flow and automated early warnings; its membrane enclosure improves discharge control and protects fish against biological threats.
  • The company says these systems draw on offshore engineering expertise and are designed for transport, installation, mooring and site-specific adaptation. It uses in-house computational fluid dynamics to verify cage conditions. The stated goals are improved fish welfare, lower mortality, reliable production and reduced environmental/energy impacts amid risks including sea lice, jellyfish and warming waters.
  • The page cites forecasts of aquaculture output exceeding 100 million tonnes in 2027 and reaching 111 million tonnes in 2032, 17% growth. It identifies Norway, Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific as target markets, and links to case studies and UN goals 2, 12 and 14.
