Antec Biogas plants improve biogas production
- Published 23 March 2023 and updated 21 September 2026. Antec Biogas uses biofilm and plug-flow fermentation to extract more biogas from the same biomass in roughly one-third the time of conventional reactors. Modular reactors can be grouped into larger plants and sized for about 1,500 to over 100,000 tonnes of biomass annually.
- The page presents the technology as a way to turn household, farm, industrial and sewage waste into locally produced clean energy at competitive cost. It describes a Prestseter agricultural-school installation sized for 3,000 tonnes of manure and farm vegetable waste. Potential users include wastewater plants, municipalities, manufacturers and farmers.
- Antec was established in 2014 and won SINTEF’s Green Energy Innovation Award in 2016. The page’s statement about plants planned in Norway refers to 2019 and is historical. It links the technology to UN goals 7, 9 and 11.
