AquaFence deployable flood mitigation systems
- Published 22 March 2023 and updated 23 March 2026. AquaFence’s FloodWall is a portable reusable barrier made of marine-grade laminate panels. It uses floodwater pressure to stabilise the wall, with edge reinforcement, supports and flexible membranes. The system can be reused up to 60 times and is intended for buildings, municipalities and infrastructure.
- The page contrasts the barrier with heavy, leaky, single-use sandbags that become contaminated waste and require emissions-intensive sand transport. For a 100 m perimeter at 1.2 m height, it estimates avoiding 25,500 bags and 459 tonnes of contaminated waste. Four people can install 100 m in about an hour; 12 are recommended for larger projects. The system can also avoid rebuilding materials after floods.
- AquaFence serves commercial and municipal customers in Asia, Europe and the US. It says its US flood panels protect over USD 30 billion in real estate and critical infrastructure. The company has developed deployable systems over 15 years with flood-protection programmes. Links to UN goals 11 and 15.
