Bergen Carbon Solutions produces carbon nanofibers from CO₂ emissions
- Published 22 March 2023; updated 30 September 2026; 2-minute read. Bergen Carbon Solutions captures CO₂ from industrial chimneys and uses it as feedstock for carbon nanofibers, instead of the natural-gas-derived carbon vapours used in conventional production. The page says the process uses less energy and produces oxygen as its only by-product, and characterises the technology as CO₂-negative.
- Carbon nanofibers are described as lightweight, strong and electrically/thermally conductive. Listed applications include energy storage, protective clothing, flame retardance, oil-spill remediation and cancer therapies. The article says the process can lower manufacturing cost and greenhouse-gas impact. It cites a historical market estimate of growth from USD 420 million in 2018 to USD 1.1 billion by 2023; this is the page’s dated forecast, not a current market figure.
- The company was founded in 2016 and the technology was verified by SINTEF in 2017. Products can be ordered via bergencarbonsolutions.com or sales@bergencarbonsolutions.com. The page links to UN SDGs 9 and 12 and lists energy, CCUS, industrial production and circular economy categories.
