  • Published 15 December 2022; updated 21 September 2026; 2-minute read. BEWI Energy’s patented Tubular Smart Protector protects thread and sealing surfaces on oil-country tubular goods (OCTG) pipes. It fits thread patterns across a pipe-column size, which the page says can reduce required protector variants from over 1,000 to fewer than 50. An in-development “Intelligent Tubular Protector” adds a chip for monitoring impact, humidity, temperature and presence during transport, with scan/cloud reporting and an LED alert.
  • The product is reusable and recyclable. A subscription and deposit-return model encourages customers to return protectors for cleaning, grinding and remanufacturing. The article claims 75% savings in operational time and 40% lower costs versus traditional protectors; it cites one life-cycle assessment estimating an 80% emissions reduction for a plug-and-abandonment operation. It says robots can remove the protectors on the drill floor, improving QHSE. Target customers include pipe makers, oil and gas operators and service companies; water and sewage pipes are also mentioned as applications.
  • The page says more than 100 million pipe protectors are produced annually and notes the product was available only in limited column sizes when the article was written; it also contains a dated statement that a full range would be introduced in 2021–22. It links to UN SDGs 9 and 12 and circular economy.
