From the public capture. Detailed factual notes from Business Norway. Statements and figures reflect the source at the time of capture.

  • Published 22 November 2022; updated 23 March 2026; 2-minute read. Marine Donut is described as an under-development submerged closed or semi-closed salmon-farming system. Its deep-water intake supplies water, while waste is treated within a closed loop. The circular design creates water flow that lets fish swim against the current. The company says containment can prevent escapes and reduce sea lice, disease spread and local pollution, with particular use in the final grow-out period before slaughter.
  • The concept includes sludge treatment, feed-efficiency measures and logistics intended to improve fish health and salmon quality while reducing environmental effects. The article says Bluegreen Technologies owns the concept and Mowi Norway is developing it. Availability is marked “under development.”
