From the public capture. Detailed factual notes from Business Norway. Statements and figures reflect the source at the time of capture.

  • Published 21 March 2023; updated 21 September 2026; 2-minute read. C-Feed grows and exports copepods as live starter feed for fish and prawn larvae. The company says copepods provide more protein, free amino acids, phospholipids and essential fatty acids than common rotifer/brine-shrimp feed, are readily digested, and support fry development. Its land-based Vanvikan facility is closed and controlled for biosecurity; copepods are fed algae that absorb CO₂.
  • The article says copepod feed can improve growth, survival and fish quality, reduce mortality and biomass loss, avoid enrichment steps and improve fish-farm water quality. It reports exports to the EU, Japan, Thailand and the US and says C-Feed also works with public aquariums/aquarists to breed rare species. The company was founded in 2014 as a SINTEF Ocean spin-off after over 15 years of research. Linked UN SDGs: 2, 9 and 14.
