  • Published 23 March 2023; updated 21 September 2026; 2-minute read. The Flowline 5 is a made-to-order fish-handling valve with four outlets, designed by a team including biologists and wellboat engineers. Its continuous bend and cross-section create a smoother passage intended to lower impact-injury risk. The plastic body has no grooves or pores for bacterial growth and includes ports for cleaning, flushing and draining.

  • The valve is used while fish are transferred to and from wellboats for operations such as vaccination, delousing and slaughter. Cflow says the design lowers stress, injury and infection risk and can improve survival and reduce biomass loss. Four Flowline 5 valves can perform the work of 16 conventional three-way valves on a wellboat, with additional routing flexibility and a durable body intended to tolerate greater strain. The page says the first installation was planned for the wellboat Gåsø Høvding in 2021.

  • Market context: the page cites FAO expectations of global fish production reaching 204 million metric tonnes in 2030. Linked UN SDGs: 9, 12 and 14. Public contact: Gunnar Hoff, Marketing Manager, gunnar.hoff@cflow.com. Company: CFLOW AS, Holsneset 25, 6030 Langevåg, Norway; cflow.com/en.
