  • Published 12 December 2025; updated 23 March 2026; 2-minute read. Frost Kraftentreprenør’s patented HotBlast method uses dry ice to clean electrical installations while they remain live, at voltages up to 34 kV. It does not require dismantling, abrasives, water or chemicals; a transformer can be cleaned in about 15 minutes. The dry ice turns into gas and leaves no residue.

  • The page describes pollution from industrial activity, agriculture and airborne particles as a cause of substation faults and unplanned outages. HotBlast is presented as a way to avoid cleaning-related shutdowns and reduce waste while cleaning sensitive equipment without abrasion. The company says the method is in use in Austria, Germany and Norway, with expansion into Portugal and Spain. A German-language case study is linked.
