  • Published 11 July 2023; updated 21 September 2026; 3-minute read. Colifast CALM automates remote microbial testing of raw, recreational, environmental and wastewater. It detects E. coli, total and faecal coliforms, and P. aeruginosa. Test methods include rapid screening and statistical MPN estimation; results take 2–12 hours. The system samples at the water source, reports results remotely and can operate at a monitoring location for about 14 days without interaction. It transmits through GSM, PLC/SCADA or LAN and does not need laboratory facilities or microbiology specialists.

  • The article gives examples of use monitoring Oslo’s Akerselva and Maridalsvannet rivers, and a Swedish city’s raw-water intake from a polluted river. It says on-site testing gives earlier warnings than standard laboratory workflows and lowers errors from manual sampling and transportation. Colifast reports more than 30 years of experience and over 50 systems installed globally. The page cites a projected USD 5.5 billion global water-testing market by 2027 and links the related ALARM product profile.
