From the public capture. Detailed factual notes from Business Norway. Statements and figures reflect the source at the time of capture.

  • Published 14 December 2022; updated 21 September 2026; 3-minute read. Ydra’s BLAASTROM system processes dead farmed fish and fish-processing cuttings into liquid silage, which can be sold for use in cosmetics, pet food, biogas and other products. A tank, grinder pump and hardened double-edged stainless-steel knives reduce the biomass to fine particles; an acidic solution prevents decomposition and preserves nutritional quality. The company provides a process guide to help operators produce consistent silage.

  • The system is described as handling one metric tonne in under a minute and making high-grade silage in under an hour, compared with days for other systems. Its one-stage process can grind a whole salmon up to 18 kg. The article presents this as a way to avoid landfill, incineration and other disposal costs while creating saleable material. It says the product was introduced in 2019 and had about 450 users globally at publication.

  • The availability field says equipment is in stock for quick delivery. Categories: aquaculture and fisheries, and circular economy. Linked UN SDGs: 2 and 12. Public contact: Tommy Engholm, Sales Manager, tommy@ydra.no. Company: YDRA AS, Stokkastrandvegen 85, 5578 Nedre Vats, Norway; ydra.no.
