DOSCON virtual sensors for water treatment
Published 24 March 2023; updated 21 September 2026; 2-minute read. DOSCON’s DOSMON IoT system uses virtual sensors for real-time monitoring and process control at water and wastewater treatment plants, and can also monitor distribution systems and sewers. It helps operators track water-quality parameters, including parameters such as phosphates for which the article says no practical direct sensor is available. The system can operate alone or integrate into a broader monitoring setup.
The page says real-time data can improve treatment consistency and provide earlier warnings when physical sensors give incorrect readings. DOSCON positions its sensors as less expensive than many autoanalysers or high-end physical sensors; it estimates investment payback within one to three years. The article says the technology can support process optimisation and reduce chemical and energy use while improving treatment quality.
DOSCON was established in Norway in 2008 and opened a China subsidiary in 2019. Customers listed include engineering consultants, organisations, SCADA providers, water companies and water/wastewater utilities. The page cites a USD 1.2 billion global water-quality-sensor market forecast for 2023 (a historical projection). Categories: technology / IoT and water/wastewater. Linked UN SDGs: 6, 9 and 12.
