Enerin HoegTemp industrial heat pump
Published 20 March 2023; updated 21 September 2026; 3-minute read. Enerin’s HoegTemp is an all-electric industrial heat-pump concept designed to deliver process heat up to 250°C while reusing secondary waste heat. The page says high-temperature heat is important for food, chemical/petrochemical, and pulp-and-paper industries, and that these temperatures had generally been supplied by fossil fuels or electric boilers.
The company estimates the system could reduce a plant’s energy consumption by 50–70% through waste-heat recovery. It uses helium, described as inert and non-toxic, with no ozone-depletion or global-warming effect. Pelagia, a Norwegian fish-products processor, is cited as interested in replacing oil- and gas-fired steam boilers; a Pelagia representative said renewable-powered operation could greatly reduce the footprint of fishmeal and fish-oil production.
Market context in the article: European industry uses 500 TWh/year of heat at 100–200°C, and the company estimated potential savings of USD 17 billion. At publication, prototypes were planned for installation in 2022 and commercial availability in 2023; the current availability field still says under development, so those dates are historical plans. Enerin says its team has over 100 combined years of R&D and 30,000 hours of high-temperature heat-pump operating experience.
