EPCI gravity-based foundations for offshore wind
Published 16 December 2025; updated 30 September 2026; 2-minute read. AF Gruppen, Multiconsult and DOF describe a turnkey European engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) offer for concrete gravity-based foundations (GBS) for offshore wind in Northern Europe. The offer includes concept design, engineering, fabrication, installation, inspection, maintenance, repair and decommissioning, handled in-house across the partnership.
The partners say they bring over 50 years of GBS design experience, a deepwater port and operating yard, 77 offshore vessels, managers and engineers, and more than 900 concrete specialists. The page describes the fabrication setup as scalable, quick to deploy and cost-efficient. Foundations are designed for up to 80 years of operation; the article claims concrete can reduce total CO₂ emissions by up to 80% versus steel. Gravity foundations avoid pile-driving and associated underwater installation noise; the page also says the structures can act as artificial reefs.
Market context cites a DNV 2025 projection that wind could supply 27% of Europe’s electricity mix in 2040 and a doubling of European offshore-wind capacity from 2024 to 2030.
