EpiGuard EpiShuttle patient isolation transport
Published 1 December 2022; updated 21 September 2026; 2-minute read. EpiShuttle is a reusable patient-isolation unit for transporting people with highly infectious diseases or vulnerable patients needing protection from their surroundings. It is designed for road, sea and air transport, internal hospital transfers or temporary isolation. The page says it supports ongoing treatment, including intensive care and emergency procedures such as intubation and central venous catheter insertion, and is compatible with most mechanical ventilator circuits.
The unit can operate in isolation mode or positive pressure for vulnerable patients such as burn or cancer patients. CBRN filters are described as protecting against chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear environmental agents. It is CE-marked as a Class I medical device. The unit can reportedly be disinfected and made ready for reuse in under two hours, and the transport vehicle can be reused immediately without disinfection.
The article presents reuse as reducing disposable-unit incineration, waste and cost. It says the product is intended for hospital preparedness against outbreaks and mentions Ebola, SARS, MERS, Lassa fever, measles, tuberculosis and MRSA. EpiGuard was founded in 2015 by Oslo University Hospital doctors with Inven2, Eker Group and Hansen Protection as co-founders.
