Norsk Biobrensel residual-biomass products
Published 15 December 2022; updated 23 March 2026; 2-minute read. Norsk Biobrensel turns residual wood from lumber production into renewable fuel products, including wood chips and briquettes, as well as sawdust for animal bedding. It holds PEFC Chain of Custody and Sustainable Biomass Program (SBP) certifications for legally and responsibly sourced wood from sustainably managed forests, and ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications.
The article says using forestry residues captures resource value that would otherwise decay; biomass is described as usable for heat and power and as transportable in compact forms. It cites the potential role of solid biomass from forests, farms and cities in meeting renewable-energy targets and IRENA’s possibility of one-fifth of global energy consumption by 2050. This is a historical projection.
The page reports 150,000 metric tonnes of biomass products produced in 2018 and turnover above USD 9 million that year. Norsk Biobrensel was founded in Norway in 2002 and belongs to Ergon Nordic; together with Norsk Energigjenvinning it supplied Scandinavia, Europe and Africa. Availability: available.
