Fieldmade digital inventories and on-site 3D printing
Published 14 December 2022; updated 30 September 2026; 2-minute read. Fieldmade’s FIELDWARE® software manages digital inventories, while NOMAD® deployable microfactories produce spare parts close to remote energy installations. Instead of holding large physical inventories, operators can use secure production files supplied by original equipment manufacturers to make predefined parts on demand. The company says its additive-manufacturing offering spans available material categories and industrial processes.
The article frames remote energy sites as needing costly spare-part stockpiles to avoid outages, even though many parts are never used. Fieldmade says energy operators/service firms could reduce spare-part inventories by 10–25% and repair costs by 50–90%, and lower their carbon footprint through reduced waste and transport. These are potential company-reported outcomes.
Fieldmade grew from the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI) and became independent in 2016. The article says it was a Scandinavian leader in applied additive manufacturing and reported interest in Germany, the Netherlands and the UK, with plans to expand across other European sectors and the US.
