From the public capture. Detailed factual notes from Business Norway. Statements and figures reflect the source at the time of capture.

  • Published 16 November 2022; updated 23 March 2026; 2-minute read. FiiZK supplies fully enclosed marine fish pens intended to prevent parasite/pathogen exposure, fish escapes and emissions to nearby waters. Durable PVC cages are designed for high winds and waves; pumps draw water from depths of at least 15 m, and filtration treats incoming and outgoing water. Sizes are configurable; the largest listed capacity is 15,000 m³.

  • The article says closed pens can support fish welfare and produce larger, faster-growing, higher-quality fish. It contrasts reported biomass loss of up to 20% in traditional open farms with loss seldom above 1.5% in closed farms. The systems are presented as addressing disease, sea lice, escapes and seabed accumulation of waste/feed.

  • FiiZK was established in 2009 and also supplies closed waiting pens and closed cages for land-based aquaculture. The article states that 40% of global protein consumption is expected to come from the sea by 2050; this is a projection. Availability: available. Category: aquaculture and fisheries. Linked UN SDGs: 2, 9, 12 and 14. Public contact: Magnus Stendal, Business Development Manager, magnus.stendal@fiizk.com.
