FishGLOBE closed marine aquaculture tanks
Published 18 November 2022; updated 21 September 2026; 2-minute read. FishGLOBE offers mobile, fully enclosed globe-shaped marine fish-farming tanks in different sizes; the largest listed capacity is 30,000 m³. Water is automatically replaced twice per hour and drawn from depths of 15 m or more, below the page’s described sea-lice/disease belt. The company says this reduces lice attachment, pathogens and exposure to coastal conditions.
The enclosed tank is described as preventing fish escapes and limiting feed/faeces discharge into the water column, while allowing more flexible placement and higher stocking density. The page cites studies of post-smolt fish up to 1 kg showing higher weight and better sea-lice resistance in closed systems. Biological waste can be collected for biogas, fertiliser or other bio-based uses. Tanks are made of fully recyclable polyethylene and can be redeployed.
At the time of the article, a 3,500 m³ tank was operating and 10,000/30,000 m³ models were planned. Target markets named were Australia, Canada, Chile, Norway and the UK. The page cites projections of 40% of consumed protein from the sea by 2050 and five-fold Norwegian aquaculture growth by 2050. Availability: available. Category: aquaculture and fisheries.
