From the public capture. Detailed factual notes from Business Norway. Statements and figures reflect the source at the time of capture.

  • Published 8 July 2022; updated 21 September 2026; 2-minute read. Fjord Hybrid automates power generation and supply at fish farms by coordinating generators, batteries, electrical drives and control systems. It is delivered as a plug-and-play container that can be placed on a barge and moved between farms, or installed directly within a vessel. Fjord Control monitors system status and unexpected events remotely, allowing real-time corrections.

  • The company says the system can cut generator running time by up to 90%, fuel consumption by up to 60%, and greenhouse-gas emissions by up to 90% versus traditional operations. The page says a farm can run generators three hours per day rather than the 24-hour norm, reducing noise, maintenance/service needs and operating costs while extending power-system lifetime by up to 60%.

  • Fjord Hybrid was developed by Fjord Maritime, founded in 2016 and a member of the NCE Seafood Innovation Cluster. The page cites about 2,300 aquaculture facilities worldwide in 2019 as its market and says the system could also suit other industries needing flexible automated power. Availability: available. Categories: aquaculture and fisheries; battery / integration; energy / power supply. Linked UN SDGs: 9 and 12. Public contact: Øyvind Bakke, CCO, ob@fjordmaritime.no.
