From the public capture. Detailed factual notes from Business Norway. Statements and figures reflect the source at the time of capture.

  • Published July 7, 2022; updated September 30, 2026; estimated reading time 3 minutes. Page availability label: “Soon available,” with concrete plans for commercial availability in the near future. Categories: Battery / Cell production and Second life and recycling; Energy; Circular economy.
  • Hagal develops energy-storage systems intended to extend life of new and used batteries. Its “single cell control” hardware/firmware adjusts load at individual-cell level according to each cell’s capacity. Its Switching Battery Management System (SBMS) is described as using energy in the system rather than dissipating it as heat during state-of-charge balancing, especially as cells age; the article also claims it removes the need for a separate inverter and transformer.
  • Products under development included SAFE ESS, a low-profile all-in-one indoor system for property utility rooms; a utility-scale outdoor battery energy storage system using new and repurposed EV batteries; and cloud-based Hagal Flow energy-management software using AI to optimize energy use.
  • Hagal says stationary storage can balance power supply/demand and mitigate wind/solar intermittency, limiting grid-upgrade needs. Reusing EV batteries is presented as reducing raw-material extraction and battery-manufacturing impacts and speeding access to storage.
  • At the time of the article, Hagal said it expected to enter the market as early as Q4 2022 and was running pilots including Europris and its Battery LifeCycle Hub. It described work with ASKO Maritime, which was developing emission-free truck transport across the Oslofjord, where Hagal batteries would supply electric trucks. It invited partners, investors and future customers. SDGs shown: 7, 9 and 12.
