HEINZMANN FuelMACS vessel fuel-performance monitoring
- Published August 8, 2022; updated March 23, 2026; estimated reading time 2 minutes. Status: available. Category: Maritime / Operations, management and digital solutions.
- FuelMACS combines software and hardware to measure and report vessel fuel performance against shipowner-specific KPIs. It is designed to support MARPOL-related Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plans and Energy Efficiency Operational Indicators. The page says it can be installed on any vessel, work with any fuel type or blend, reuse existing data/instrumentation where possible, and be configured through discussion with the owner.
- The system reports ship and fleet performance to shore, compares fuel use with engine model, condition and operating mode to identify specific fuel consumption, and supports operational improvements. Machine learning may recommend fuel-optimization actions. Remote reporting is intended to let crews continue operating without interruption.
- The article says existing vessels often have substantial efficiency-improvement potential because ships commonly operate for at least 30 years. Better measurement is presented as a way to cut fuel use, greenhouse gases and local harmful emissions while delaying some need to build replacement vessels. The page says the technology could serve more than 70,000 merchant and cruise ships using hydrocarbon fuels and newbuilds lacking comparable monitoring in their automation systems.
- HEINZMANN Automation says it has supplied marine automation products, systems and services to merchant and naval vessels since the early 1980s and is ISO 9001:2015 certified. SDGs shown: 3 and 9. Embedded video reports unable to play; no transcript exposed.
