  • Published March 22, 2023; updated September 21, 2026; estimated reading time 2 minutes. Status: available. Industry: Energy / Solar energy.
  • WeightWatcher measures snow load on rooftop solar panels and compares it with a configured maximum. When the threshold is exceeded, its built-in monitor alerts users and uses solar-panel energy to melt snow; water drains through gutters. The page says melting can outpace maximum snowfall and cleared panels can resume energy production by early spring, offsetting energy used for melting.
  • The article says commercial buildings built before 1970 may have roofs unable to withstand snow loads over 150 kg/m². Heavy or wet snow, particularly intense short-duration snowfall, can stress roofs and create collapse risk. WeightWatcher is intended to avoid manual removal labor and equipment, prevent damage from shovels/snowblowers and reduce danger to workers/buildings. It may make solar-panel installation feasible on older, weaker roofs.
  • Innos reports strong market penetration in Norway and sought international expansion to commercial buildings in countries with harsh winters and heavy snowfall. SDGs shown: 3, 6, 7 and 11. Embedded video reports unable to play; no transcript exposed.
  • Contact: Tommy Strömberg, CEO, tommy.stromberg@innos.no; phone reveal control collapsed. Company: INNOS AS, Kleiva 12, 1476 Rasta, Norway; innos.no.
