From the public capture. Detailed factual notes from Business Norway. Statements and figures reflect the source at the time of capture.

  • Published December 1, 2022; updated September 21, 2026; estimated reading time 2 minutes. Status: available. Categories: Technology; Agritech and food production.
  • Keep-it® is a non-toxic, recyclable label applied to temperature-sensitive products at production. Its countdown indicator tracks cumulative temperature over time and shows estimated remaining shelf life through distribution, retail and the consumer’s home. The page mentions fresh fish, poultry and red meat; it also identifies pharmaceutical quality control, including insulin and vaccines, as a possible use.
  • The article explains that shelf life depends on cumulative exposure to temperature, so deviations from intended cold storage can make a printed use-by date inaccurate. It says temperature monitoring systems often fail to update package dates, contributing both to disposal of still-safe products and risk from improperly stored products.
  • The company says the indicator has reduced minced-beef food waste by up to 60%, which could also reduce associated needs for feed, land and water and lower emissions. Keep-it indicators were being used in Norwegian supermarkets, home grocery deliveries and hospitals, and the article says they were expected to support fresh-fish exports across Europe. Keep-it Technologies participates in the Horizon 2020 Safeconsume project on reducing foodborne illness. Embedded video present but unable to play; no transcript exposed.
  • Contact: Kristen A. Hovland, CEO, kristen.hovland@keep-it.no; phone reveal control collapsed. Company: KEEP-IT TECHNOLOGIES AS, Strømsveien 323A, 1081 Oslo, Norway; keep-it.com.
