Kiona IWMAC software for existing-building energy optimization
- Published March 20, 2023; updated March 23, 2026; estimated reading time 3 minutes. Status: available. Categories: Technology / Proptech; Architecture and construction.
- IWMAC is a cloud SCADA building-management platform from Kiona that integrates technical systems in non-residential buildings, including ventilation, heating, cooling, lighting and refrigeration. The page says it can integrate 3,500 types of controllers. Property managers use a PC dashboard for system settings, alarms and reports, with remote analysis and control and 24/7 monitoring that alerts them to problems such as leaking valves or unnecessary air-conditioning operation.
- IWMAC is customized to each building using its historical data, company experience and information from thousands of similar buildings. By coordinating systems, it aims to improve energy efficiency and reduce building costs. The article says customers can choose equipment and service providers instead of being tied to a single vendor. Installation is described as fast and relatively low-cost, allowing upgrades without waiting for major renovations.
- The page cites buildings as responsible for 36% of European greenhouse emissions, mostly from heating and cooling; 75% of buildings are described as inefficient, and 95% of today’s stock is forecast to remain in use 50 years from now. Kiona says optimization can address this existing stock sooner than waiting for full renovations.
- IWMAC used a B2B network model with 180 partners in seven countries, mostly Nordic, and was seeking global partners. The article says IWMAC merged with three other energy-optimization companies to form Kiona Group. It cites roughly 20 years’ experience. SDGs 7 and 11 shown.
