  • Azipull Carbon is a compact, steerable propulsion unit that uses carbon fiber in load-bearing parts to reduce weight. The first model, AZP C65, is designed for 2 MW, uses a fixed-pitch pulling propeller and two spiral-bevel gear sets, and is steered hydraulically with an automation and control system. The article describes the unit as easy to maintain and well suited to yachts, passenger vessels and workboats.
  • Conventional yacht propulsion systems are described as less efficient and a source of noise and vibration. Kongsberg says the lighter compact design raises efficiency by 10–15%, with corresponding emissions reductions; the unit weighs 2.7 metric tons and can deliver up to 2 MW. Composite construction also offers design flexibility to adapt the unit to the hull and reduce noise/vibration.
  • The article says Italian yacht builder Benetti had delivered six superyachts using the system, with further potential in passenger ships and workboats. Kongsberg Maritime is described as operating manufacturing, sales and service facilities in 34 countries. SDGs 9 and 12 shown.
