  • Maritime Robotics makes remotely controlled uncrewed surface vehicles (USVs), or sea drones, for sheltered waters, coastal areas and offshore waters. Its range includes portable Otter and Otter X models for sheltered waters and larger Mariner and Mariner X models designed for harsher weather and offshore conditions. The vehicles can carry customer-selected surface and subsurface sensors for bathymetric, seabed and environmental surveys.
  • Otter and Otter X can be controlled through Maritime Robotics’ vehicle control station (VCS) or a mobile-phone app. Mariner models are controlled through the VCS and can use diesel-electric propulsion with a water jet and electric thrusters. The VCS provides electronic charts, engine and navigation information, multiple control modes, sensor-data quality monitoring and visualisation, and sensor parameter adjustment.
  • The article says ocean industries need detailed seabed mapping and data on temperature, weather, currents, geology, fish stocks and other conditions. Traditional vessels can have difficulty reaching survey sites, put onboard staff at risk, cost more to crew and maintain, and typically use diesel. Remote uncrewed operation is presented as reducing personnel risk and making surveys easier.
  • Stated uses include geophysical and hydrographic surveys, environmental assessment and monitoring, aquaculture, defence, harbour security, ocean mapping, offshore energy, water-quality monitoring, marine research and ocean cleanup. Otter and Otter X use four interchangeable, hot-swappable battery packs to power electric thrusters; the Mariner range can use diesel-electric propulsion.
  • The page cites a global USV market value of USD 2.4 billion in 2025 and forecasts growth from USD 2.5 billion in 2026 to USD 3.55 billion by 2034. SDGs 9 and 14 shown.
