MASE makes compact urban homes work like larger homes

- MASE Home’s Adaptive Interior Robotics™ is designed to let a small room shift between sleeping, living and working. Its flagship MASE Bed is a fully automated ceiling bed that moves up to the ceiling at the push of a button in under 30 seconds; no folding or bed-making is needed. The company says the bed can be installed in new or existing buildings without structural changes, is quick to install and easy to move.
- The page frames urbanisation as increasing pressure on land and housing affordability. Smaller homes are presented as a way to accommodate more people sustainably, provided they remain functional, liveable and attractive. MASE says its system frees 15–25% of floor space in compact homes and hotel rooms and makes one room serve multiple uses.
- Claimed benefits include more comfortable, flexible small homes; better commercial viability and attractiveness of smaller units for developers; and improved use of each square metre. The article argues that better space use can reduce unnecessary construction, material consumption, energy demand and building emissions. The installation can scale across conversions, retrofits and new buildings.
- MASE targets European urban markets, beginning with the Nordics and UK, and identifies developers, architects and hotel operators in high-cost cities as initial customers. It estimates a EUR 2 billion B2B opportunity in Europe. A testimonial is attributed to Søren Secher, CEO of Living Lab at OBOS, who says partners such as MASE help address the challenge of maintaining living quality in smaller spaces. Linked case studies: OBOS Compact Living, a BTS project with developer Birk & Co, and MASE for professionals. SDGs 3 and 11 shown.
