MAT-KULING provides one-stop shop for RAS aquaculture systems
- Published January 25, 2024; updated March 23, 2026; estimated reading time 3 minutes. Category: Aquaculture and fisheries.
- MAT-KULING supplies water-treatment equipment for land-based recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), offering complete systems or standalone products. The listed equipment includes fish tanks, biological treatment, mechanical filtration, disinfection, aeration and oxygenation. It says it can advise customers and aims to get equipment running within 24 hours.
- Named products include protein skimmers, ozone generators, degassing towers, moving-bed biological reactors, UV-C units, oxygen/ozone contact tanks and drum filters. The company describes its drum filters as non-corrosive and made from plastic rather than steel. Its prefabricated, factory-tested RAS skid packages water treatment, hydraulics and controls in one unit, which the article says reduces supplier coordination and on-site work and supports quality and after-sales management.
- The article presents aquaculture as a potential source of food security with a lower environmental impact than meat production. It says fish production generates greenhouse-gas emissions similar to some vegetarian proteins. RAS facilities filter, adjust and reuse water; they can collect waste, control production conditions, prevent fish escapes and limit external disease and parasite transmission. At publication, the company’s CEO said only 2% of fish production was in RAS and argued that share should rise.
- MAT-KULING says its systems can support production of salmon, trout, eel and sea urchin and can be used worldwide, including landlocked countries. The page cites a RAS market valuation of USD 15.5 billion at the end of 2022 and forecasts USD 38.5 billion by 2030. It reports EUR 10 million in company sales in 2023 and says capacity to produce and sell was its limiting factor. Equipment is designed by the company and manufactured at its plant in Izmir, Türkiye; larger markets include Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Oman and the US. SDGs 2 and 9 shown.
