  • Published December 1, 2022; updated September 21, 2026; estimated reading time 3 minutes. Categories: Technology / IoT; Architecture and construction.
  • N3zones combines entrance mats made from recycled yarn from discarded fishing nets with N3evo vacuum cleaners fitted with IoT sensors. Its N3Smart ecosystem maps entrances, records cleaning activity through indoor-positioning sensors, tracks cleaning KPIs and automatically alerts site administrators when service differs from expected timing or status. Users configure location, entry zone, zone size, expected cleaning time and notifications.
  • The article says shoes bring dirt, water, sand and mud into buildings, degrading indoor conditions and flooring and raising cleaning costs. Traditional rented mats are transported away for laundering and replaced regularly, using water and generating transport emissions. On-site cleaning is presented as more precise, with lower water use and fewer transport emissions.
  • N3Smart is intended to report cleaning status in line with the INSTA 800 Nordic standard. It uses NB-IoT narrowband 4/5G and Bluetooth BLE 5.0. The system can work with any cleaning machine or robot and gives building owners information on actual equipment use. Planned expansion includes weather and indoor-environment sensors for dust, VOCs, temperature and humidity.
  • The company estimates a potential market of six million entrances in two million buildings in Norway and Sweden. The page includes a historical market forecast that the global entrance-matting market would exceed USD 6.7 billion by 2020. Developed with the Norwegian Asthma and Allergy Association, 19,500 systems had been installed in Norway and Sweden across schools, nurseries, hospitals, offices, retail and production sites at publication. SDGs 3, 9, 11 and 12 shown.
