Nasta delivers zero-emission construction machinery
- Published November 7, 2022; updated September 30, 2026; estimated reading time 2 minutes. Categories: Battery / Application; Energy; Architecture and construction.
- Nasta’s ZERON range comprises all-electric construction machinery for projects including urban work and noise-regulated sites. The featured ZE160LC is a 17.5-tonne tracked excavator with an 86 kW rating and 42 kWh batteries. PeakShaver+ lets it work at full capacity on half the usual electrical supply, with the battery supplementing power demand and enabling about 30 minutes without a power connection. Specifications shown: recommended 0.9 m³ bucket, 8.87 m maximum reach, 5.98 m maximum digging depth and 6.17 m maximum dumping height. Equipment includes a hydraulic quick coupler, tilt rotator and various buckets and selector grabs; a compactor or breaker can also be fitted.
- The article says the excavator produces no operational CO₂, NOx, carbon monoxide, particulate matter or unburned fuel, and runs quietly enough to allow construction during noise-regulated periods when conditions permit. On a 400 V/63 A supply it can operate continuously without refuelling or engine-oil changes. It is said to consume less energy and have lower operating costs than a comparable combustion-engine machine.
- The page cites the UN estimate that construction contributes around 40% of global greenhouse-gas emissions and says heavy machinery is a major source. It also cites USD 95 trillion in infrastructure investment needs over 15 years, arguing emissions must fall alongside construction demand. Nasta supplied equipment for what the page calls the world’s first fully emission-free urban construction project, an Oslo street upgrade. Founded in 1929, it is described as one of Norway’s largest excavator suppliers. SDGs 3, 9 and 11 shown.
