NAVIAQ streamlines fish-farm maintenance with all-in-one software
- Published March 22, 2023; updated September 21, 2026; estimated reading time 2 minutes. Categories: Aquaculture and fisheries; Technology.
- NAVIAQ is software for aquaculture operations that records details on farm components and equipment, including material qualities, weight, installation depth, expected degradation, certifications and maintenance history. It actively monitors component status and can alert operators months ahead of a planned replacement, then automatically create a service order. The page says a fish farm may have about 500 components such as nets, ropes, moorings and pipes.
- The article says equipment must be monitored, maintained and replaced to prevent component failure, marine pollution and fish escapes that could affect wild stocks. Automating component tracking is intended to reduce oversight and human error and can save up to 400 working hours per site annually.
- NAVIAQ also generates documentation for construction, materials and maintenance under differing national and international fish-farming regulations. It includes crew, operations, risk and safety management features and serves farms and service vessels along Norway’s coast; the software had recently launched internationally at publication. A Frøy vessel is shown conducting a delousing operation.
- The page cites an expectation that 40% of consumed protein will come from the sea by 2050 and points to worldwide demand for environmental monitoring and maintenance systems. SDGs 9, 12 and 14 shown.
