Opt-E reduces energy consumption in industrial rotating equipment
- Published 23 March 2023; updated 24 August 2026; estimated reading time 2 minutes. Listed as available under Maritime, Energy and Industrial production.
- Opt-E’s SmartSave service and technology target pumps, fans, blowers and other rotating equipment, which the article says use significant energy. It cites pumps as consuming up to 20% of electricity in developed countries and says up to 90% operate inefficiently; operation accounts for 85% of pump lifecycle cost. Oversized equipment can also increase energy use, emissions and maintenance and shorten equipment life.
- The process begins with an operations assessment to identify inefficient practices and estimate potential savings. Opt-E also provides financial/investment analysis to calculate ROI and support applications for energy-efficiency incentives. Implementation connects SmartSave software with suitable hardware such as sensors to digitize, automate and optimize equipment operation.
- The company says SmartSave works with pumps of all models and manufacturers, supports continuous real-time monitoring and displays energy savings in real time. The system is described as ready for AI integration. It is sold as SaaS with optional analytics, predictive maintenance and consulting.
- Opt-E cites its own studies claiming energy savings of up to 70% for industrial rotating equipment; results are presented as company-reported potential, not a guaranteed outcome.
- Market context: the article gives a 2017 global installed-water-pump value of USD 50 billion and a forecast of USD 67.9 billion by 2024 (dated projection). It says the addressable market includes new installations and retrofits across process industries, aquaculture, energy, oil and gas, and maritime sectors.
- Linked to SDG 9, Industry, innovation and infrastructure, through lower energy consumption and industrial environmental impacts.
