Origo Solutions’ SCADA+ is streamlining floating offshore wind
- Published 30 June 2022; updated 30 September 2026; estimated reading time 3 minutes. Listed as available under Offshore wind (Balance of plant and Operation and maintenance), Energy, and Made in Norway.
- Origo Solutions supplies supervisory control and data acquisition systems for floating offshore wind. SCADA+ aggregates data from turbine subsystems into one interface, giving operators an overview of one turbine or an entire wind farm and tools for control and data tracking. The system is described as flexible/scalable and applicable to bottom-fixed offshore wind, onshore wind and other renewable generation.
- The first-generation system was designed and tested for Equinor’s Hywind Scotland pilot park. The page says the upgraded SCADA+ was monitoring Zephyros-One, described as the world’s first floating wind turbine.
- Claimed operational benefits include real-time insight that can alert users to malfunctions before they occur, more efficient supply-vessel logistics and lower associated emissions. Operators own the collected data and can analyze reports reaching back five years to inform planning.
- Market context: the page cites the European Green Deal’s target to increase installed European offshore wind capacity 25-fold by 2030. It gives February 2021 European capacity as 25 GW, equivalent to 5,402 grid-connected turbines in 12 countries. These are dated figures. The company says its control/automation background could eventually support more autonomous operation.
- Origo Solutions is described as having more than 40 years’ experience supplying and integrating control, automation, safety and data-management systems across oil and gas, process, marine and renewable-energy industries.
- Linked to SDG 7, Affordable and clean energy, because its systems support safe and sustainable operation of onshore and offshore wind farms.
