From the public capture. Detailed factual notes from Business Norway. Statements and figures reflect the source at the time of capture.

  • Published 27 January 2023; updated 30 September 2026; estimated reading time 3 minutes. Listed as available in the Americas and Europe under Offshore wind (development/presurvey and installation) and Energy.
  • OSC’s cloud-based SaaS platform Sandbox supports planning, simulation and optimization of offshore-wind operations. Engineers can use physics-based and hydrodynamic models to test project designs and operational scenarios, collaborate globally and visualize data. It can be deployed on-premises or in the cloud.
  • The platform combines customer data with weather, sea-condition and operational datasets. Use cases include testing crane loads and how wind speed affects lifting equipment onto a vessel. OSC also offers virtual prototyping, digital twins and predictive tools across planning, installation, monitoring, maintenance and decommissioning.
  • OSC says early simulation can reveal project risks/opportunities in hours or days rather than months or years, lower capital and operating costs, improve efficiency and reduce emissions. It also supports controlled crew training, worker safety and potentially lower insurance costs. These are company claims.
  • Market/policy context: the article cites EU targets of at least 60 GW installed offshore wind by 2030 and 300 GW by 2050, and estimates around 20,000 offshore turbines the size of the Eiffel Tower would need installation by 2050. OSC targets offshore-wind developers, EPCIs and shipowners in Europe and the US.
  • Founded in 2004 for the offshore sector, OSC says renewables now account for 75% of its ocean-segment revenue. Its purpose is to let customers test and prepare scenarios for scaling offshore wind.
  • Linked to SDG 7, Affordable and clean energy; SDG 8, Decent work and economic growth; and SDG 9, Industry, innovation and infrastructure, through lower risk/costs, training safety, efficiency and emissions reductions.
