ProductionCompass AI powers production optimisation in aquaculture
- Published 20 May 2026; estimated reading time 3 minutes. Listed as globally available under Aquaculture and fisheries, Technology / Artificial intelligence and machine learning, and Agritech and food production.
- ProductionCompass AI combines sensor readings, camera feeds and operational reports to forecast biomass growth in real time and flag anomalies. The product is built on Solution Seeker’s Squashy data-mining framework and NeuralCompass transfer-learning technology. It is particularly aimed at land-based and other closed aquaculture systems with many sensor streams, but the page says it can be applied to aquaculture generally.
- The described decision-support functions include optimizing feeding, stocking density and water quality; detecting stress or possible disease before large losses; and transferring models across facilities and species. Species named include salmon, grouper, shrimp and yellowtail kingfish.
- The page says conventional growth models use only part of available data and may not capture biological complexity, contributing to variable harvests, inefficient resource use and inconsistent quality. Claimed outcomes include reduced batch variability and mortality, improved fish welfare and throughput without proportionally increasing inputs. It also aims to reduce waste of feed, oxygen and water and to mitigate disease transmission and pressure on marine ecosystems.
- Solution Seeker says it is adapting the technology to other low-data problems, including oil-well flow rates, forest biomass and carbon sequestration, and precision agriculture. It reports pilots for Brazilian native-forest carbon sequestration and agricultural biomass modelling.
- Market context cites a 2020 Nature study projecting sustainable ocean-derived food supply could exceed current yield by more than 50% and reach 80 million tonnes by 2050; a 2024 BCG report forecast land-based Atlantic salmon output rising from about 23,000 tonnes in 2024 to 190,000 tonnes by 2030. These are cited projections, not current realized output.
- Linked to SDG 12 (Responsible consumption and production) for more efficient resource use and waste reduction.
