- Published 1 December 2022; updated 21 September 2026; estimated reading time 2 minutes. Listed under Technology.
- Real Training uses mixed-reality VR to run fire-extinguisher and hose practice at a company’s own site. Participants physically move around while VR goggles show a simulated room with fire and smoke. They practice crouching below smoke, aiming and using the extinguisher/hose with the right volume and position. An instructor provides feedback and adjusts difficulty until the trainee demonstrates the technique.
- The article says conventional fire training can require travel, off-hours attendance and use of combustible or polluting materials. The VR approach is described as allowing realistic drills throughout the workday without smoke, chemicals, special clothing or protective gear, with less disruption and lower travel/personnel costs.
- The page positions practiced, timely fire response as a way to reduce property loss and save lives and help employers meet safety and insurance requirements. It states Real Training was founded in 2017 and was among the first firms to use mixed-reality VR for practical fire training.
- Market context cites the global fire-protection-system market rising from USD 67.7 billion in 2020 to USD 95.4 billion by 2025; this is an elapsed forecast.
- Linked to SDG 3 (Good health and well-being) and SDG 9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure) for training without exposure to smoke/chemicals and a lower-impact training method.
