REGN Datacenters provide green data centres for a more sustainable future
- Published 8 November 2022; updated 21 September 2026; estimated reading time 2 minutes. Listed under Digital infrastructure / Data centre operators.
- REGN develops data-centre sites and turnkey core-and-shell infrastructure for high-performance computing. The page presents Norway’s hydropower, stable grid, low electricity prices, naturally cool climate, political stability and fibre connectivity as advantages. REGN works with grid owners and energy producers and offers site selection, facility/infrastructure design, smart-energy solutions and local support.
- The article says data growth is increasing demand for secure sites and reliable power and refers to transmission losses when electricity travels long distances. It claims data centres’ energy and emissions footprint is comparable to aviation and quotes a projection that by 2025 the sector could consume over 20% of global electricity and cause 5.5% of emissions; it also cites an IEA estimate that over 75% of data-centre electricity came from fossil sources. These are dated estimates/projections in the page.
- REGN says it owns several large sites in the Bergen region with hydropower, dark fibre and stable electricity. The article illustrates a planned Børdalen facility of 56,700 m² and 30 MW and says three projects were underway, two ready to build at the time. Current project status is not established by the page.
- Market context cites a data-centre construction market forecast from about USD 20 billion in 2018 to USD 30 billion by 2023, an elapsed projection.
- Linked to SDGs 9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure) and 12 (Responsible consumption and production) for energy-efficient infrastructure and reduced emissions.
