  • Published 2 December 2022; updated 21 September 2026; estimated reading time 2 minutes. Listed under Water and wastewater.
  • Scandinavian Water Technology (ScanWater) supplies mobile treatment units and distribution kits for emergencies when water infrastructure is damaged or supplies become unsafe. The compact WT200 and EmWat 1000 use filtration to make chemical-free drinking water from freshwater at 200 and 1,000 litres per hour, respectively. Larger media-filtration EmWat models (2,000, 4,000, 10,000 and 15,000) are described as producing up to 15,000 litres per hour.
  • A distribution kit fits in a 20-foot container and contains a 1,000-litre tank, tap stations and collapsible 10-litre jerry cans. The page says one kit can meet the water needs of up to 10,000 people. These are product capacity figures given by the company.
  • The treatment units use ScanWater’s WT200 purification system; the company says achieved water quality surpasses WHO drinking-water guidelines. This is a company claim as presented on the page.
  • ScanWater says it delivered preparedness systems to nearly all municipalities in Norway and Sweden, was exploring exports beyond the Nordic region, and had offices in France and China. It is part of the Malthe Winje Group. The market section cites growth from USD 1.1 billion in 2017 to USD 2.1 billion in 2022; that forecast period has elapsed.
  • Linked to SDGs 6 (Clean water and sanitation), 11 (Sustainable cities and communities) and 13 (Climate action), including use in disaster-risk reduction.
