- Published 2 December 2022; updated 21 September 2026; estimated reading time 2 minutes. Listed under Water and wastewater.
- Scandinavian Water Technology (ScanWater) offers a field-hospital package covering water treatment, purification, storage and distribution, plus toilets and showers. Its mobile treatment units can make chemical-free drinking water from freshwater at up to 15,000 litres per hour. The sanitation package includes VacuSan: one unit has a vacuum station with up to 16 latrines and 12 showers. The linked Hygieniser 100 pasteurises toilet blackwater for safe disposal. Cans, tanks, pumps and power systems support water storage and delivery.
- The full system is described as fitting on eight Euro pallets for transport and rapid deployment. The company says it uses modest amounts of water and can help reduce disease risks where water infrastructure is damaged, inadequate or absent during humanitarian crises.
- ScanWater reports deliveries to authorities and humanitarian organisations worldwide, including Canadian, Spanish and Swedish branches of the International Committee of the Red Cross, and Belgian and Italian health authorities. The company is part of Norway’s Malthe Winje Group.
- Market context repeats a mobile-water-treatment estimate of USD 1.1 billion in 2017 rising to USD 2.1 billion in 2022; the forecast period has passed. The article says climate-related infrastructure vulnerabilities may sustain demand, a forward-looking observation.
