Sensor Innovation uses AI to monitor humidity in buildings
- Published 27 October 2024; updated 28 September 2026; estimated reading time 2 minutes. Listed as available in Europe under Technology / Proptech, Architecture and construction, Circular economy and Made in Norway.
- Sensor Innovation’s into® Control System monitors humidity and temperature over time using robust sensors and a digital platform. Its hybrid-AI control combines machine-learning algorithms with building data and building physics to identify moisture development in hidden, high-risk areas such as roofs, walls, floors, pipes, drains and gutters. Alerts can be sent by SMS, email or building-management systems.
- The system is intended to warn early about moisture-related structural damage, mould and rot, reducing repair costs and health risks. The article also says preventative maintenance can avoid energy-intensive repairs and waste from damaged building materials. It highlights roofs, including green and blue roof designs, as vulnerable to extreme-weather moisture.
- The page states that the technology was being introduced in 10 European countries as of 2024. It includes a testimonial from a Veidekke project manager and links three case studies: moisture sensors and sustainability, installation at Wilds Minne school, and recognition by BREEAM. Market context cites a smart-building market projection from USD 117.42 billion in 2024 to USD 568.02 billion in 2032 and suggests insurers could benefit from fewer water-damage claims; those are market projections and proposed benefits.
- Linked to SDGs 3 (Good health and well-being), 9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure) and 12 (Responsible consumption and production).
