  • Published 2 December 2022; updated 21 September 2026; estimated reading time 2 minutes. Marked available, with products ready for delivery; listed under Architecture and construction and Circular economy.
  • Taktila makes indoor tactile indicators for floors and staircases from 100% recycled polyamide reinforced with glass. Their rounded shape and flat top are designed to be detectable with a mobility cane while reducing stumbling risk. The indicators attach with 3M VHB tape rather than drilled fasteners, allowing installation on different surfaces without dust or noise.
  • The company says tape installation cuts installation time by two-thirds compared with conventional non-tape products. A SINTEF test/research project reportedly found excellent adhesion and durability after the indicators had been exposed to nearly 14 million pedestrians since 2017. Taktila estimates each kilogram of recycled plastic saves raw-material and energy use equivalent to 2 kg of crude oil. The article links to the product Environmental Product Declarations; these are company-reported claims.
  • Taktila says its products have completed Environmental Product Declarations and Life Cycle Assessments. Intended customers include public and office buildings, hospitals and airports, where tactile indicators support navigation for blind and visually impaired people and accessibility requirements.
  • Linked to SDGs 3 (Good health and well-being) and 12 (Responsible consumption and production).
